It is important to hold manufacturers accountable for defective and dangerous products that injure people. First, the victims need compensation so that they can recover from their injuries. Second, the manufacturers need to get a strong message that there is a heavy price to pay when they sell dangerous products:
- Dangerous factory equipment: Workplace injuries are generally covered by workers' compensation. But when the injury was caused by a third party, such as the manufacturer of unsafe equipment, the worker may be able to file a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturer. Talk to a product liability lawyer to see if you have a legal claim.
- Defective auto parts: If a car accident was caused by a defective vehicle design or auto part, the defect may make the injuries from the accident far more serious than they should have been. When brakes fail or a design flaw causes instability on turns, the auto crash can cause serious injury or wrongful death. When an airbag fails to deploy or when a car's seat back gives way in a wreck, the passengers are placed in grave danger. Product liability lawsuits help make cars safer.
- Dangerous food products: A foreign object in packaged food or unsafe food processing can cause serious injury or death. If a loved one suffered from e. coli or other food poisoning, or if you were injured by a foreign object in a food product, talk to our law firm about a product liability claim.
BEWARE OF DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS
Hydroxycut Recall
There are a variety of supplements that are heavily advertised that promise significant weight loss or other amazing health benefits. But are they safe?
You should be aware that unlike prescription drugs, which are subject to years of testing before they are approved for use by the public, dietary supplements are essentially non-regulated. Most recently, we have seen cases of people using the widely advertised weight loss supplement Hydrozicut who have sustained permanent liver damage. In response to reports of this risk, the FDA has issued a recall on Hydroxycut (see link below).
If you, or anyone close to you, is using Hydroxycut, please stop immediately. If you have any symptoms of potential liver damage such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin), brown urine, nausea, extreme weakness, abdominal pain, or any of the other symptoms of liver damage or other potential injuries potentially caused by Hydroxicut, see you doctor immediately.
If you think you have suffered an injury as a result of taking Hydroxycut, contact Jacobs and Jacobs for a free consultation.
