Recalls
If you were injured or if a loved one died as a result of using a defective product of any kind, we urge you to investigate as to whether that product had been named in a recall. Of course, it is preferable to prevent an accident than to take action after the fact. Therefore, if you are reading this because a product that you purchased or use has been named in a product recall, we urge you to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how to return the product or take it to a dealer for repair. If you are unsure how to return the product for a refund or repair, it is still best to refrain from using something that is known to be dangerous or defective.

Contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission or other relevant government agency for information about product recalls that you know of, have heard about or wonder about. Contact an attorney to discuss procedures and processes for claiming compensation after an injury or death caused by a recalled product such as the following:

  • A car, van, truck, or other type of motor vehicle
  • A toy containing lead
  • A medical device such as a pacemaker, implanted breast enhancement, Teflon TMJ implant, or prosthetic such as an artificial hip or knee
  • Nutritional supplements
  • Weight loss drugs
  • Herbal diet supplements and remedies

Recently, hip replacement joints have been recalled. An article in the New York Times from December 2011 explains the situation many people are facing.
